dreaming it all up again...

by: ABEL

well, this blog is not dead but it isn't working properly. i've been unable to post pictures for some reason. all my link graphics in the sidebar don't show up but yet they're still in the file manager.

i get error messages whenever i try to upload pictures. i've tried contacting blogigo's tech support but have yet to get a reply back. so instead i've reluctantly decided to move to a new blog...

so if anyone's still here reading this, my new U2 blog can be found at the following url:

october 29, 2005...a beautiful day in dallas!

by: ABEL

saturday's show was absolutely awesome.
i'm still recovering from it. i guess you know you're getting too old for GA when it takes you 2 days to recover

it was indeed a beautiful day in dallas.
sunshine, perfect temperatures, great fans to hang around with in the GA lineup. i even bumped into some people who recognized me from chicago

only bad part about the day was getting a sunburn.

i was so worn out already by the time the opening band started i was begging for it to be over already. they were great but i just couldn't really get into it.
i had only had about 4 hours sleep the night before which is probably why i was so tired.

i didn't get into the ellipse, but i was on the outside rail, just up from the center on adam's side. i was in the 2nd row so i didn't even have a rail to lean against.
i'll admit it, i was miserable.

of course when U2 came on i started to forget how tired i was and enjoyed the show for the most part. except i couldn't see too good and my back and feet hurt.

i'd brought a banner that said "happy birthday larry".
some friends were standing along the rail in front of me.
they knew i had the banner and wanted to get it to larry somehow.

when larry walked out to do the drums for 'love and peace' they kindly let me squeeze up in front of them along the rail.
aaah, relief to just be able to lean against something.
i was feeling better already.

then the moment came...larry was walking towards us.
they helped me hold up the banner as high as we could.
we screamed "LAAAAARRRRRYYY!!!!!" as loud as we could.

and OMG!!!! he heard us and saw the banner!
he stopped right in front of me for a second.
he even acknowledged it by putting his hands together (almost like one would do if praying) and gave a little bow (or nod) to me!
i even had camera in hand but was too excited to take a picture.

that moment picked me up and carried me through the rest of the concert.
i guess it was the adrenalin rush. i didn't even notice my feet and back hurting that much any more.
it was awesome.

bono's voice sounded better than i heard it in a long time.
he it almost every high note.
not one crack in his voice or frog in his throat.
miss sarajevo was amazing.

streets was amazing too...a lot of us brought glow sticks. as allegra said i think there were at least 100 of us in GA who had them.
we cracked them open during streets.
i think bono noticed too.
the crowd's reaction was awesome after the song.
we applauded for several minutes....bono walked around sort of in awe.
i don't remember his exact words but he kept saying something like "this is insane."

here's a couple of my best photos:

the rest of my photos can be found here:

if anyone was at the show in dallas got a pic of larry stopping to bow while i held up the banner, please email it to me at lizartlizard @ gmail.com.  thanks!
